A short TEN years ago we sold our 1st Grass-Fed Beef! That same year we also cleared and prepared 75 acres of additional pasture.

By 2012 we started raising pastured chickens and cleared and prepared 35 acres of additional pasture. Pigs came the next year and in 2015 we purchased 52 acres that joined our farm.

Beth mentioned the other day that it was FOUR years ago this month that we travelled to Seven Sons to look into raising eggs. By Spring of 2017 we had our first flock.

Did you know that our farm was one of the early adapters with Seven Sons and GrazeCart for our website that we started January 2016 - almost FIVE years ago. Followed by our deliveries that summer when we switched from selling custom half & whole beef & pigs to mostly selling retail cuts. And, ALL raised and finished on our farm.

August 2018 we added 160 acres to our farm. By late this year the trees were harvested, debris had been mulched returning the carbon to the soil, water well was installed, and the perimeter fencing was completed.

As we look back on 2020 who would have ever thought our farm would see the growth spurred somewhat by the pandemic and in some part from our updated website & email marketing completed in February. Beef & Pork were both about 50% greater than in 2019. Due to our USDA Chicken Processing plant we increased pastured chicken by 4-times the 1000 state imposed limit. Eggs were mostly flat.

One of our greatest accomplishments came from helping like minded families farm Regeneratively to include being a distribution point for NON-GMO feed at a reasonable price.

So, what does 2021 look like for Nature's Gourmet Farm?

Well, I have already mentioned that we plan to add turkeys. Additionally, we're in discussion with two farms about providing (Responsibility Grown) products different yet complimentary to our beef, pork, chicken, and eggs.

We have major plans coming together with the soul purpose of Improving
our customers experience with our farm. Look for more on this in January!

Who would have ever envisioned a short TEN years ago our farm would have grown to support so many families who depend on our healthy products to feed their families.

Let me close by sharing two Scripture verses that we live by found in Proverbs Chapter 3-

5- Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6- In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Merry Christmas!

"This was a wonderful experience. The pick up was quick and easy, the order was a great price for grass fed and range free, and the meat tastes wonderful! I found them through a magazine that stated their are local farmers in most area's. It saves me so much compared to grocery store prices. I'm also amazed at the size of the chicken and eggs. I will be a repeat customer!"

Tribute to Tess - our loyal farm dog

A Tribute to Tess- Thursday morning was a very sad time here on the farm. Without going into all the details, a tragic accident first thing Thursday morning involving our beloved Tess that caused her death a few minutes later. First thing in the morning she is typically at the back door waiting for one of us to come out so she can greet us. But, not this day. We are all very sad and heartbroken. Tess was such a joy and loving to all who knew her. It has been especially hard for our son Jared as he and Tess were best friends. Many of our customers who have been to our farm know she always greeted with a big smile and happy spirit.

Health vs. Economics is THE Battle

Health vs. Economics is THE Battle - or maybe health vs. priorities of the general public when you consider that in 2024 the Apple App Store generated $1.3 trillion in sales!!! Vicki, a repeat customer from the MS Gulf Coast, sent me a short 3 minute video from a Joe Rogan Podcast with RFK Jr. discussing pig farms in North Carolina and how the CAFO pig operations got started. NOTE that the big companies own the pigs – the farmers only own the debt and do the work (and take all the risk). Please watch the video here.

"Pasture Raised" Defined

The USDA has officially updated the definition of “pasture-raised” to require that animals spend the majority of their lives on rooted, vegetative pasture, distinguishing it from “free-range,” which only mandates outdoor access. This update became effective March 2025. Here at Nature’s Gourmet Farm that is how we raise our animals – whether it be cows, pigs, meat chickens, egg layers, or turkeys. Pasture raised is our management choice and reflects our stewardship ethos. Frankly, pasture raised is how God created them to be versus. in a Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO). CAFOs represent man’s inhumane wisdom!!!
