First the Good News!

Over three days we were able to process six beef and two pigs. I was really pleased with Jake and our regular team who really stepped up and made it happen.

While processing it became evident that there were opportunities for some new products. These include;
Beef Grilling Bones We "canoe cut" the length of the bone to expose the maximum amount of marrow. To prepare, roast with salt, pepper and herbs, then spoon the savory filling onto crusty bread for an indulgent treat. Here is the link https://naturesgourmetfarm.com/store/product/beef-grilling-bones
Beef Meaty Soup Bones - Harvested from the front quarter of our 100% pasture raised beef our Meaty Soup Bones have plenty of meat plus the nutritional bone marrow - the best of both that will surely please your family. Here is the link https://naturesgourmetfarm.com/store/product/beef-soup-bones
Bacon Burger - made from our grass fed beef and pastured pork bacon ends. Here is the link https://naturesgourmetfarm.com/store/product/beef-pork-bacon-ground-1-pkg

Our high fungal compost arrived Monday afternoon - the same day the spray rig for the no-till drill shipped.

Wednesday, I purchased 10 Red Angus replacement heifers from a farm in Alabama. This farm has been using 5L forage bulls from Montana for 25+ years and has some really nice cattle suited for grass fed beef. We need to grow our herd (and prepare to replace some of the older cows) to keep up with customer sales. My only regret was I could not afford to buy more!

Now the Bad News?

#1 The president of the world's largest asset management company just issued a stark warning to members of America's "entitled generation."

BlackRock co-founder and president Robert Kapito said Tuesday that the global supply chain and soaring inflation crises will soon have dramatic effects on the U.S. economy that will result in a noticeable scarcity of goods not experienced before by many younger Americans.

That scarcity, he said, will likely be a shock to the system for many who are accustomed to an abundant and comfortable lifestyle.

"For the first time, this generation is going to go into a store and not be able to get what they want," Kapito said, adding, "We have a very entitled generation that has never had to sacrifice."

"I would put on your seatbelts, because this is something that we haven’t seen," he asserted, in reference to what he called "scarcity inflation."

The warning comes just days after Bloomberg economists advised Americans to consider budgeting an extra $5,200 this year — or $433 monthly — to prepare for the effects of historically high inflation.

#2 comes from mercola.com daily email and states:
Evidence that The Great Reset is rapidly approaching can be seen in the recent decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ban real
meat, and if history is any indication, the same decision may be taken by other countries as well. The U.S. ban is slated to take effect April 1, 2024

The decision comes on the heels of repeated public appeals to the Western world by Bill Gates to stop eating real meat as a climate control effort

Lastly, a farmer friend in AL that helped me with our USDA poultry plant called me this week to say he is selling his farm and plant so he can focus more on his day job and spend more time with his children.

Tribute to Tess - our loyal farm dog

A Tribute to Tess- Thursday morning was a very sad time here on the farm. Without going into all the details, a tragic accident first thing Thursday morning involving our beloved Tess that caused her death a few minutes later. First thing in the morning she is typically at the back door waiting for one of us to come out so she can greet us. But, not this day. We are all very sad and heartbroken. Tess was such a joy and loving to all who knew her. It has been especially hard for our son Jared as he and Tess were best friends. Many of our customers who have been to our farm know she always greeted with a big smile and happy spirit.

Health vs. Economics is THE Battle

Health vs. Economics is THE Battle - or maybe health vs. priorities of the general public when you consider that in 2024 the Apple App Store generated $1.3 trillion in sales!!! Vicki, a repeat customer from the MS Gulf Coast, sent me a short 3 minute video from a Joe Rogan Podcast with RFK Jr. discussing pig farms in North Carolina and how the CAFO pig operations got started. NOTE that the big companies own the pigs – the farmers only own the debt and do the work (and take all the risk). Please watch the video here.

"Pasture Raised" Defined

The USDA has officially updated the definition of “pasture-raised” to require that animals spend the majority of their lives on rooted, vegetative pasture, distinguishing it from “free-range,” which only mandates outdoor access. This update became effective March 2025. Here at Nature’s Gourmet Farm that is how we raise our animals – whether it be cows, pigs, meat chickens, egg layers, or turkeys. Pasture raised is our management choice and reflects our stewardship ethos. Frankly, pasture raised is how God created them to be versus. in a Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO). CAFOs represent man’s inhumane wisdom!!!
