Lot's Happening At NGF This April - First mention is an impressive 21 First-Time Buyers of our products in the last 30 days. Followed closely with our Coast Route with a new record of pounds delivered April 4th. Beth and I are truly humbled by your support of our farm, our products, and our efforts to provide quality nutrient-dense protein to support your family's nutritional health needs. March 31st, Morgan with the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center | Scripps Howard Foundation at The University of Southern Mississippi visited our farm to interview me about Mississippi Legislature being the first state to vote to ban lab grown dairy. In addition to the ban topic I took the opportunity to share some important topics affecting MS Agriculture and citizens of Mississippi. Included are:
-- the chart that shows the nutritive value of Raw Cow's Milk vs. Pasteurized Milk and the history behind why milk is pasteurized - hint: raised in a CAFO environment vs. on pasture where God intended
-- that only 2% of the food consumed in Mississippi was raised or grown in Mississippi
-- that in 2016 a report stated $8.5 Billion was spent to import food into Mississippi. That is more than $103 million per County. Ten years later that number is $85.0 Billion
-- our food supply chain is way too CENTRALIZED in the hands of a very few companies. Beth shared a video that stated Four grocers control 85% of the grocery market, four meatpackers control 85% of meatpacking, two seed companies control 90% of the seed genetics in farming, and three big companies control 85% of the inputs (fertilizer, pesticides, etc.)
-- this over centralization has destroyed rural communities across America. Must break this up and move to decentralized, local food production
-- and more!!!
The interview went very well. I was also able to work in a short farm tour. Morgan left truly amazed at all that our Regenerative Farm is doing. Hope to have a link soon that I can share. She said local media across Mississippi typically pick up stories from their Center and share in their viewing area.
The afternoon of April 12th I will host a farm tour for the Northshore Alternative Health Alliance (NAHA) members and their families. Abi has done a wonderful job bringing together alternative health professionals to network and better serve their communities. We were blessed to be invited to the first meeting and am amazed how the group has blossomed and grown.
April 23rd I will host a farm tour for a Jones County High School Agriculture Class. We are expecting about 15 students to attend.
What a beautiful mushroom coming up from excellent ground cover and surrounded by our green winter grass. Lots of great fungal activity going on. Half-Beef Custom Processed Orders - May harvest order window will open April 4th and close April 27th. Harvest will be May 5th. Thanks 😉
Nature's Gourmet Farm product value proposition is to create a community that evolves around one of the most intrinsically important and critical needs of the ages, and that’s the provision of sustenance. That's our passion - to raise healthy animals to provide nutrient dense protein and saturated fat that nourish families and strengthens immune systems.
Our Beef is always grass finished with NO grains. Additionally, our animals are free of mRNA, GMO's (chemicals), Antibiotics, and Hormones. We ethically raise them on diverse forage pastures that regenerates our soils and protects our ecosystem.
Let me encourage you to "Be The Change" our food system needs by "Voting With Your Fork" at every meal.
